This case is about slaves or slavery.

Year: 1825
Citation: 7 H. & J. 17
Jurisdiction: Maryland
People:
Short Summary: Dealing with a plantation in which the seller planted the crops "himself" before selling the plantation to the buyer for his life and then after for his wife's life before the seller manumitted his slaves. Holding that as the plants were sowed by the original seller, they passed to the wife's estate through sale. Note that it is not explicit but assumed that it was in actuality the slaves owned by the seller who planted the crops, the court makes an equivalence between the slaves owned by the seller and the seller himself.
